ℹ️ About My IP Address

My IP Address shows the public address a website sees for your current connection. It is useful when you need to answer "what is my IP?", confirm a VPN exit address, check whether a proxy is adding forwarding headers, or copy the external address for an allowlist, firewall rule, DNS record, or remote support ticket.

Internet addresses come in two main formats: IPv4 addresses such as 203.0.113.42, defined by RFC 791, and IPv6 addresses such as 2001:db8::42, defined by RFC 8200. The address shown here is the source address received by this server, plus any trusted proxy hints exposed through HTTP headers.

What this IP lookup checks:

  • Public IP detection: reads the remote address that reached the server and highlights IPv4 or IPv6 formatting.
  • Proxy and CDN headers: inspects forwarding fields such as Forwarded, X-Forwarded-For, X-Real-IP, and Cloudflare-style client-IP headers. The standardized Forwarded header is documented in RFC 7239.
  • Location estimate: maps the address to an approximate country, region, city, timezone, ISP, and network owner when data is available.
  • ASN and routing context: shows autonomous-system details that help identify the provider or organization announcing the network.
  • Browser request context: summarizes user-agent and request metadata using HTTP field behavior described by RFC 9110.

Example uses include verifying that a corporate VPN is active before accessing a restricted admin panel, checking whether home internet has changed after a router reboot, comparing IPv4 and IPv6 reachability, and confirming the address a SaaS provider should add to an allowlist. For deeper network ownership checks, compare the ASN and routing details against regional internet registry data from IANA number resources. If the address is private, loopback, documentation-only, or otherwise special-purpose, compare it with the IANA IPv4 Special-Purpose Address Registry and the IPv6 special-address behavior defined in RFC 4291.

Privacy and limitations: this is a server-side lookup, so your request reaches Online Cyber Tools in order to detect the address. IP geolocation is approximate and usually identifies an ISP point of presence, VPN exit node, mobile carrier gateway, or office network rather than a precise device location. Proxy headers can be missing, rewritten, or spoofed outside trusted infrastructure, and a shared NAT connection may represent many users behind one public address.
