ℹ️ About Text Counter
Text Counter analyzes pasted text in real time and reports word count, character count, line count, paragraph count, sentence count, and estimated reading time. It is useful when a platform, assignment, metadata field, or editorial workflow has a hard length limit.
Common use cases:
- Academic writing and essay length verification
- Social media post length optimization
- Blog post and article analysis
- Email and message character limits
- SEO content length optimization
- Document structure analysis
Statistics provided:
- Words: Total word-like tokens after whitespace and punctuation handling.
- Characters: Total characters with and without spaces.
- Lines: Number of line breaks and visible text lines, including empty lines where relevant.
- Paragraphs: Text blocks separated by blank lines.
- Reading time: A practical estimate based on a configurable words-per-minute assumption.
- Averages: Words per sentence, characters per word, and similar editorial ratios.
Counting conventions: Word and sentence counts are estimates, especially for scripts without spaces, emoji sequences, abbreviations, code samples, and mixed-language text. For Unicode segmentation details, see Unicode Standard Annex #29.
Accessibility note: Reading-time and sentence-length estimates are editorial signals, not a substitute for human review. The W3C's WCAG reading level guidance is a useful reference when preparing public-facing copy.
