ℹ️ About CSS Gradient Generator
CSS gradients are browser-generated CSS <image> values that fade between color stops.
They are most often used in background or background-image, but they can be used anywhere CSS accepts an image value.
Because the browser renders the gradient, the same code scales to different element sizes without shipping a separate PNG, JPG, or SVG asset.
Gradient types this generator supports:
- Linear gradients: Colors progress along a straight gradient line. Use keywords like
to rightor angles such as135deg; in CSS gradient syntax,0degpoints upward and90degpoints right. - Radial gradients: Colors spread outward from a center point as a circle or ellipse. They work well for spotlights, soft focus states, and depth effects behind UI elements.
- Conic gradients: Colors are placed around a center point and rotate around it. They are useful for color wheels, pie-chart style indicators, progress rings, and angular highlights.
- Repeating gradients: The color-stop range repeats, creating stripes, bands, checkerboards, or radial patterns without image tiles.
Practical uses: Build hero backgrounds, button states, cards, borders, loading placeholders, dashboard indicators, and layered UI effects.
Keep at least two color stops, adjust stop positions to control where colors blend, and copy the generated declaration into a selector as a background or background-image value.
background: linear-gradient(135deg, #22d3ee 0%, #a3e635 100%);
Limitations: Gradients have no natural dimensions; they are painted into the element's gradient box, so the same code can look different on narrow, wide, or resized elements.
Very small repeating intervals can alias visually, and heavily layered or animated gradients can cost more to paint than a static background.
For production CSS, add a solid background-color fallback before the gradient and test conic gradients or newer color interpolation syntax in your target browsers.
