ℹ️ About ASCII Text Generator
ASCII Text Generator creates fixed-width banner text by mapping each supported character to a small glyph made from plain text characters. The output is readable text built from characters instead of pixels, which makes it easy to paste into terminals, README files, code comments, and plain-text documents. For converting images to ASCII, use the dedicated ASCII Art Generator instead.
Practical use cases:
- Terminal and console application headers, startup screens, and command output dividers.
- README titles, changelog section breaks, release notes, and documentation banners.
- Plain-text logos for source comments, scripts, config examples, and internal runbooks.
- Forum posts, chat snippets, and email signatures where image attachments are not useful.
Technical details:
- Block Font renders six-line, fixed-cell glyphs using the
#character. - Small Font renders compact three-line glyphs using Unicode block characters such as
█,▀, and▄. - Input is normalized to uppercase and limited to A-Z letters, 0-9 numbers, spaces,
!, and?. - The result is plain text, so alignment is most reliable in a monospaced font.
Example: entering HELLO! with Block Font creates a six-line banner made from # characters.
Choosing Small Font creates a shorter terminal-style banner using block elements.
Limitations: this generator is for text banners, not image-to-ASCII conversion. It supports a focused character set, caps input at 50 characters for readability, and the Small Font style may not show numbers or punctuation as visibly as the Block Font. Unicode block output can also vary slightly by terminal, browser, and installed font.
References: the plain ASCII character set is documented in RFC 20, and the compact style uses characters from the Unicode Block Elements range.
Privacy note: the interactive page sends the entered text to this site's API to generate the banner. Avoid pasting secrets, tokens, or personal data into decorative text art.
API Usage Example:
POST /api/tools/text/ascii-text
Content-Type: application/json
{
"text": "HELLO",
"font": "block",
"width": 80
}
