ℹ️ About Reverse Text Tool
Reverse Text Tool changes the order of text by characters, words, lines, sentences, or paragraphs. Use it as a backwards text generator, reverse words in a sentence, flip line order in logs or lists, create puzzle text, or test how parsers behave when input arrives in an unexpected order.
Character mode reverses Unicode code points, so Hello World! becomes !dlroW olleH and
abc 123 becomes 321 cba. Word mode keeps each word intact while reversing word order, line mode is useful
for stack traces and pasted lists, and paragraph mode can quickly invert the reading order of larger notes.
Common reverse text uses:
- Generate backwards text for word games, puzzle clues, escape-room notes, and classroom exercises.
- Reverse word order for quick linguistic checks, copy editing experiments, or prompt variations.
- Flip line order in lists, logs, CSV snippets, terminal output, or multi-line notes.
- Reverse sentence or paragraph order before comparing drafts with the diff and text statistics tools.
- Debug Unicode-aware text handling by checking how symbols, combining marks, and emoji sequences move.
Reversal modes:
- Characters: Reverse code-point order; with formatting preserved, each line is reversed independently.
- Words: Reverse words while keeping the letters inside each word in their original order.
- Lines: Reverse newline-separated rows without changing the text inside each row.
- Sentences: Reverse simple sentence chunks split by periods, question marks, and exclamation marks.
- Paragraphs: Reverse blocks separated by blank lines while preserving paragraph text.
Unicode notes: JavaScript strings are defined by the ECMAScript string model, while user-visible characters are described by Unicode Text Segmentation (UAX #29). This tool avoids splitting surrogate pairs, but it is not a full grapheme-cluster normalizer. Emoji joined with zero-width joiners, combining accents, right-to-left scripts, and normalized versus decomposed forms can display differently after reversal; see Unicode Normalization Forms (UAX #15) for background.
Limitations: This is a text-order transform, not encryption and not true visual mirror writing. Sentence detection is punctuation-based, so abbreviations, initials, decimal numbers, and quoted dialogue may need manual review after reversing.
