ℹ️ About Favicon Generator
Favicon Generator creates a publishable icon bundle for browser tabs, bookmarks, home-screen shortcuts, and basic PWA install surfaces.
Start from initials, short text, an emoji, or uploaded PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, or SVG artwork, then preview the tiny sizes before downloading the generated files and recommended <head> markup.
Browsers select page icons from <link rel="icon"> entries using hints such as type, media, and sizes. This tool outputs a legacy-friendly multi-image favicon.ico plus explicit PNG links so older clients, modern browsers, and installable web app surfaces all have usable icon candidates.
Use it for:
- Create tab and bookmark icons for a new site, landing page, dashboard, or documentation portal
- Package a real
.icocontaining 16, 32, and 48 px PNG frames for legacy favicon fallback - Generate 192x192 and 512x512 PNGs referenced by
site.webmanifestfor PWA install prompts - Add a 180x180
apple-touch-icon.pngfor iOS and iPadOS home-screen web clips - Turn a logo, monogram, product initial, or emoji into a complete favicon ZIP without desktop image tooling
Bundle contents: favicon.ico with 16/32/48 px images, PNG exports at 16, 32, 48, 64, 96, 128, 180, 192, 256, 384, and 512 px, apple-touch-icon.png, site.webmanifest, README.txt, and an index.html sample that wires up rel="icon", rel="apple-touch-icon", rel="manifest", and theme-color.
Example deployment: upload the ZIP contents to the web root, keep the generated filenames stable, and paste the sample <link> and <meta> tags into the page head. If you publish icons from a subdirectory, update the generated paths from /favicon-32x32.png and /site.webmanifest to match your asset location.
Practical limits: favicons are often rendered at 16x16 or 32x32, so thin text, detailed screenshots, and low-contrast marks disappear quickly. Square source artwork with a simple silhouette works best. Upload mode accepts image files up to 4 MB, and SVGs are rasterized before export, so browser-only SVG features or external assets may not survive the conversion. The manifest icons generated here are standard color icons, not dedicated maskable or monochrome assets.
