ℹ️ About Barcode Generator

Barcodes are machine-readable symbols that encode identifiers or short text into bars and spaces. This generator creates common linear barcode images for retail labels, inventory tags, shipment cartons, library items, lab samples, tickets, and asset tracking workflows where a scanner needs to read the same value repeatedly and reliably.

Supported barcode formats:

  • UPC-A: 12 numeric digits for North American retail product identifiers.
  • EAN-13: 13 numeric digits for international retail product identifiers.
  • Code 128: compact alphanumeric and symbol encoding for logistics, packaging, and internal tracking labels.
  • Code 39: uppercase letters, numbers, spaces, and selected symbols for asset, industrial, and government labels.
  • ITF-14: 14 numeric digits for trade item groupings such as cases, cartons, and distribution units.
  • Codabar: numeric data with A-D start/stop characters, commonly seen in libraries, blood banks, and older lab systems.

Example inputs:

  • UPC-A: 036000291452 for a 12-digit retail product code.
  • EAN-13: 4006381333931 for a 13-digit GTIN-style retail code.
  • Code 128: SHIP-12345-A for a shipment, work order, or internal SKU value.
  • Code 39: ASSET 42 for uppercase asset labels using the Code 39 character set.
  • ITF-14: 10012345000017 for a carton or case-level identifier.
  • Codabar: A123456789B with required start and stop characters.

Standards and references: Retail UPC-A, EAN-13, and ITF-14 usage is governed by the GS1 barcode standards and the GS1 General Specifications. EAN/UPC symbology is specified by ISO/IEC 15420:2025, Code 128 by ISO/IEC 15417:2007, and Code 39 by ISO/IEC 16388:2023.

Limitations: This tool draws barcode symbols from the value you enter, but it does not assign GS1 company prefixes, prove ownership of a GTIN, guarantee retailer acceptance, or replace physical print verification. Scanner readability still depends on contrast, size, quiet zones, print quality, label material, and the scanner configuration. Use the barcode scanner and EAN/UPC validator before production printing.

Privacy note: Barcode images are rendered through the BWIP-JS online barcode API, so the encoded value is sent in the image request URL when the preview, copy, or download action loads the barcode. Avoid entering secrets, unreleased product identifiers, access tokens, credentials, or private customer data.
